From the runway to the red carpet, braids are a huge trend right now. Celebrity hairstylist and founder of Hair Room Service, Michael Duenas, tells us how to create one version of the look—the headband braid, aka “Heidi” or milkmaid braids, as worn by Dianna Agron at the SAG awards.
• Start a basic three-section braid at one ear as you would with a French braid, but you don’t have to pick up new hair from the scalp every section. This alleviates the dramatic parting and sectioning you get from a French braid.
• Continue braiding around the front of your head till you reach the opposite ear. This will give you the look of a headband without actually needing one…plus you don’t have to worry about it falling out.
